Brans-Dicke Scalar Field as a Chameleon
In this paper it is shown that in Brans Dicke theory, if one considers a non-minimal coupling between the matter and the scalar field, it can give rise to a late time accelerated expansion for the universe preceded by a decelerated expansion for very high values of the Brans Dicke parameter ω.
متن کاملWiggly Strings in Linearized Brans-dicke Gravity
The metric around a wiggly cosmic string is calculated in the linear approximation of Brans-Dicke theory of gravitation. The equations of motion for relativistic and nonrelativistic particles in this metric are obtained. Light propagation is also studied and it is shown that photon trajectories can be bounded. متن کاملRenormalization in quantum Brans-Dicke gravity
In the Brans-Dicke model we treat the scalar field exactly and expand the gravitational field in a power series. A comparison with 2D sigma models and φ perturbation theory in four dimensions suggests that the perturbation series in 4D Brans-Dicke model is renormalizable.
متن کاملNew exact cosmological solutions to Brans-Dicke gravity with a self-interacting scalar-field
We derive a new parametric class of exact cosmological solutions to Brans-Dicke theory of gravity with a self-interacting scalar field and a barotropic perfect fluid of ordinary matter, by assuming a linear relationship between the Hubble expansion parameter and the time derivative of the scalar field. As a consequence only a class of exponential potentials and their combinations can be treated...
متن کاملTesting Gravity with Gravitational Wave Source Counts
We show that the gravitational wave source counts distribution can test how gravitational radiation propagates on cosmological scales. This test does not require obtaining redshifts for the sources. If the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR, ρ) from a gravitational wave source is proportional to the strain then it falls as R−1, thus we expect the source counts to follow dN/dρ ∝ ρ−4. However, if gravita...
